Manchester United fans have slammed Fred after he was ‘bullied’ off the ball by Demarai Gray, resulting in Everton’s equalizer.
Gray seemed to be trapped on the sideline around the midway line, but the winger wiggled free and squared the ball to Abdoulaye Doucoure.
After Anthony Martial had put the hosts ahead at Old Trafford, the Frenchman found an onrushing Andros Townsend, who blasted the ball past David De Gea to equalize the score.
United were then lucky to evade defeat as Yerry Mina was judged to be marginally offside by VAR. However, United fans were quick to place the blame on Fred’s shoulders.
“Fred getting bullied again…it’s becoming a weekly occurrence,” one fan tweeted in response to the goal.
Another added: “You telling me Ole plays 2 CDM’s and trusts them; for them to be bullied by Demarai Gray? The CDM’s for top half clubs win those balls. Fabinho, Rodri, Kante to name a few. Fred just ain’t it.”
“Fred gets bullied every time!” a third concluded.
Owen Hargreaves chimed in with his opinion on BT Sport after the match: “Sir Alex [Ferguson] wouldn’t forgive you for that. You wouldn’t play for one month.”
