Video: Manchester United qualify for the last 16 of the UCL with 2-0 win over Villarreal

Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho scored in Michael Carrick’s first match as caretaker manager against Villarreal, advancing Manchester United to the last 16 of the Champions League.

Carrick made four changes from Saturday’s 4-1 thrashing at Watford, leaving Bruno Fernandes on the bench in what turned out to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s final match as United boss, only for the visitors to struggle in the first half.

However, with the Group F match at El Madrigal obviously heading for a draw, Ronaldo popped up to break the deadlock with a great piece of anticipation to slip in and score his sixth Champions League goal of the season and his tenth overall.
