Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants the Glazers to sign Declan Rice at any cost, reports say. The Norwegian was backed in the summer transfer window, with the club making three major signings. But, ahead of tonight’s Champions League clash with Villarreal, it appears he wants more reinforcements as he eyes silverware.
After signing Tom Heaton on a free transfer, the likes of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo were then brought in as well. But while United started the new season strongly, they’ve hit a mini blip with three defeats in their last four matches across all competitions.
They now go up against Villarreal in the Champions League tonight looking to get a first European win under their belt, having lost to Young Boys last time out.
And, ahead of the match, 90min have claimed Solskjaer is lobbying the Glazers to sign Rice from West Ham ‘at any cost’.
Solskjaer, it seems, feels the Red Devils need more reinforcements if they’re to challenge for the biggest trophies on offer. But any deal for Rice won’t be straightforward, with Manchester City also eyeing the former Chelsea academy star.
The report says City, as well as United, have recently sent scouts to watch him during the early embers of the season.
